Sniffing around timidly, a water vole slowly made it's way out of it's hole, unaware of the dark amber eyes watching it. Sundance waited patiently for the perfect moment to pouce. Only when she heard the stream rumbling near by that she realized she was so close to the Shadowclan boarder. Sundance froze, her heart missing a beat. Her old clan. She tried her best to avoid coming to it. She knew that, somewhere in the shadows off the pine trees, was her mother.
The two she-cats had never gotten along, mainly because they were so alike. They were always fighting. Sundance was never good enough. It was no wonder she left. What had Mapleclaw expected? Shaking her head, Sundanced forcused back on hunting. Shadowclan was her past, along with her mother. She was a Thunderclan cat now. Thunderclan deputy.
Stalking forward, her paws silent, Sundance croached low, ready to spring onto the unsuspecting vole. From behind Sundance, there came the sound of pawsteps. Oh, Starclan no! She thought, lunging for the vole but it was to late. Fury burning in her eyes, Sundance lept around to see what fool had scacred off her prey.

A squirrel suddenly shot through the bushes, leaping forward to scamper up a tree. However, Midnightstorm lept out of the bushes and landed on top of the squirrel, quickly biting its neck and killing it almost instantly. He stood for a moment, his lanks heaving after chasing that squirrel for however long he had been chasing it. He turned his head slighlty when he felt piercing eyes on his back, and saw Sundance giving him a look that clearly stated she thought he was a fool and that she was mad. He gulped and turned to face her, an apologetic look in his amber eyes. "Uh, hi Sundance." he purred nervously, dipping his head as he sat down and gave his white chestfur a few quick, nervous licks.

"Oh, hello Midnightstorm." Sundance mewed in a cool voice, though obviously furious. "Now, tell me if I'm correct. Isn't that point of hunting to be silent?" She let her voice drop into a growl. "Mouse-brain! I lost a water vole thanks to you!" Her creamy ginger fur bristled and tail thrashed as her Shadowclan personality kicked in.

Midnightstorm flattened his ears, suddenly developing an interest in something on the ground in front of his paws. "Yes, the point is to be silent... I guess I didn't get my dad's ability to hunt silently, even when running." he mewed quietly, glancing up to see the ginger she-cat fluffed up to almost twice her size before returning to staring at the ground in front of his paws. He gave his chestfur a few more quick licks, refusing to look into the deputy's eyes.

"Well try to think about the other warriors when you're hunting next time." Sundance growled, trying to calm herself down. She wasn't in Shadowclan. Not everything was a fight. "At least you caught the squirrel." She muttered and turned her back to Midnightstorm. She raised her head up and sented the wind, searching for more prey.

Midnightstorm nodded slowly in agreement before getting to his paws and parting his jaws and scenting the air. He turned around and padded quietly toward the bushes, crouching down so his belly fur was almost brushing against the grass. He stalked forward, placing his paws carefully, seeing a small brown mouse shuffling around beneath the the bushes. After quickly judging the distance, he darted forward underneath the bush, stopping on the other side with the mouse in his jaws.

Sundance gave him a look of approval then turned her head in the direction of a sparrow that had lands to take a drink from the stream. Paws silent, eyes fixed, claws unsheathed, Sundance lept forward. In a flutter of wings, a slashs of claws and few few scarlet drops to the ground, the bird was dead. Gripping it in her jaws, she padded back to Midnightstorm, her head held high.

Midnightstorm rolled his eyes, padding over and picking up the squirrel he'd caught earlier with his muscles rippling under his dark brown tabby pelt. "Sorry 'bout the vole." he mumbled around the fresh-kill in his jaws before slinking back through the bushes and heading back to camp, and to gather the rest of the prey he'd caught before stumbling across the deputy.

Sundance padded along side him, not quite sure why. "It's ok I guess." She mewed through the feathers of the sparrow. "I sent out about four other hunting patrols this morning so I think I can spare one vole."

Midnightstorm shot her an annoyed glance out of the corner of his eye before immediately glaring at the ground in front of him. "You decide to tell me that now? After you get mad at me for scaring it off in the first place?" he managed around the fresh-kill, his paws almost silent over the few fallen leaves that were scattered across the slightly worn path.
