Darkwind was settled by a stunted tree in the shadowclan territory. He was waiting for his apprentice, Garnetpaw, to arrive.He started to lick his paw, getting impatient. Greatstarclan where is garnetpaw!? He started to claw on a tree trunk to sharpen his claws, while he waited.

Garnetpaw bounded over to the sunted tree, her flanks heaving as she skidded to a halt, almost running into the base of the tree. "Sorry I'm late. I was talking... to Hawktooth." she panted, tilting her head back and gulping down air to fill her stinging lungs.

Darkwind grunted. "Lets get going."was all he said, as he bounded down a small hill, and down to the little clearing where mentors tarained in fighting skills. "Were practicing fighting today. Battle skills. "he said, circling the den. "Come on."he said, flicking his tail at a spot on the other side, indicating her where to stand.

Garnetpaw darted after her mentor, standing where he indicated, her claws flexing into the moist needle covered ground. "Ready and waiting." she mumbled, more to herself than to her mentor. She flattened her black ears, though she was awaiting instruction on what she was supposed to try to do.

Darkwind looked at her for a moment. "Keep your claws sheathed, even though Im sure they wouldnt hurt me. Keep them sheathed." He said. He scented the air then turned to her. "Run at me, try to attack me."he siad.

Garnetpaw reluctantly sheathed her claws, strategizing the best way to attack. She charged forward, and at the last second sidestepped to the right before turning to barrel into Darkwind's shoulder. 'What 'dya know! This just might work!' she thought happily.

Darkwind saw what she was doing. When she barrled into his shoulder, he turned to her and jumped on top of her, pinning her to the ground. "Think, unpredictable. Dont let your move show in your eyes or movements." He said, getting off of her. "Attack me again" he said, waiting. "Be fierce, pretend Im a badger, trying to get into the nursery. Use all your force"
